About Us
We Are On A Mission To
Help The Helpless
We envision a world where everyone is happy and peaceful. To that end, RISE Collin County was created in July 2020 to fight for families who have been separated because of drug and alcohol addiction. Specifically, our team of attorneys and opposing counsel work together to provide men and women who are in trouble with the law because of addiction-related crimes a second-chance option known as the Collin County Family Drug Court. If our clients choose to enter into drug court and satisfy all weekly requirements to the best of their ability, including staying sober, seeking out employment, etc., RISE steps in on a nonprofit basis and offers a hand-up as they work to become productive members of society.
Though RISE was only formally started a few short years ago, many of our attorneys and support staff have been selflessly helping drug court clients with financial support for even longer — many times from their own pockets. Over the years, we have offered financial support and guidance in several meaningful and practical ways, including but not limited to the following deeds:
- Helping pay for groceries, rent, and other necessities
- Donating furniture to clients working to secure new housing
- Resources to get to and from their jobs
- Car repairs, as needed
- Educational opportunities

Our Mission
What Is Drug Court?
Rather than proceed through the traditional court system to atone for their drug and alcohol crimes (including potential jail time), clients who are open to restoration can be invited to participate in a local drug court program. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice defines Drug Court as a type of intensive supervision consisting of judicially-led treatment programs for offenders whose offense history or assessment indicates that they may benefit from this option. In 2001, House Bill 1287 mandated that all Texas Counties with populations exceeding 550,000 apply for federal and other funds to establish drug courts, and a later study found that those who complete these programs have lower relapse rates over three years. While there is no universal model for drug courts in Texas, below is a basic quick breakdown of how many drug courts work:
- A defendant with a non-violent crime offense that is drug or alcohol related is determined to be a candidate for treatment.
- The candidate is presented with the option to accept or decline. They DO NOT have to participate in drug court if they don’t want to.
- If they choose drug court, the program includes court monitoring, weekly supervision, drug tests, and various treatment sessions.
- Programs can last anywhere from one year to 18 months.
- Upon successful completion, participants could have their underlying criminal offense dismissed or expunged. If the offending party is a parent and had their children removed from their custody because of their crimes, they could also have their children returned to them.
Collin County Drug Court participants can continue receiving support from RISE, provided that they are actively working through the program.
Our role is simple: Support those willing and help them and their families reunite in a healthier environment.
RESTORE
Our goal is to help those who accept and overcome their drug and alcohol issues through the Family Drug Court program have their children returned and families restored.
INSPIRE
We model and promote a peaceful, addiction-free life and provide the tools, resources, and inspiration clients need to develop and maintain self-care, healthy habits, and coping skills.
STRENGTHEN
Rather than allow their drug and alcohol addictions to endlessly control their lives, program participants develop the strength and courage they need to fight for themselves.
EMPOWER
Once clients have been given a second chance, it’s important that they feel confident that they can take control of their life and recovery and be productive members of society.
